Every year seems to bring a new batch of ominous predictions from Baba Vanga. Even though the blind Bulgarian psychic passed away in 1984, she made some eerily accurate forecasts during her lifetime. Her followers assert that she predicted significant events such as Princess Diana’s death and Barack Obama’s election as US President.
If her visions for 2025 are any guide, we might be facing a turbulent period, unless you’re Lewis Hamilton. Among her predictions are increased conflict in Europe, aliens appearing at a major sports event, and the F1 driver winning his eighth World Championship. Here are some of Baba Vanga’s frightening predictions that have come true over the years:
9/11 Attacks: One of her most cited predictions is the September 11 terrorist attacks. In 1989, she reportedly said: “Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing.” The “American brethren” is believed to refer to the Twin Towers and “steel birds” to the hijacked airplanes. Some have noted the use of “bush,” interpreting it as a reference to then-President George W. Bush.
Assassinations: Baba Vanga foresaw the death of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in “smoke and fire.” Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards on October 31, 1984, in an act of revenge. About 15 years prior, Baba Vanga mentioned a vision of Gandhi, saying: “The dress will destroy her. I see an orange-yellow dress in the smoke and fire.” Eerily, she wore a saree of that color on the day she died.
Natural Disasters: In 2022, she predicted major global cities would experience droughts and water shortages. Indeed, that year, the UK suffered its driest July since 1935, with a drought declared on August 12. Other European nations, such as France, Italy, and Portugal, also faced severe droughts and wildfires. She also predicted severe floods in Australia and Asia, and in July 2022, Sydney experienced eight months’ worth of rain in just four days.
Her Own Death: Although not all her predictions were spot-on, Baba Vanga had a clear vision of her own passing. A 1990 interview revealed her prediction that she would die on August 11, 1996, which indeed was the day of her death. She passed away at 84 from breast cancer in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Previously, Baba Vanga claimed the world would end in 5079—if correct, at least there’s a lot of time before that happens.
