Doctors have declared the Italian actor, who suffered an accidental hanging during a stage performance, to be brain dead. Actor Raphael Schumacher, aged 27, tragically hanged himself on stage in what appears to be a terrible accident. The noose, intended to be fake, was allegedly mishandled, and a safety precaution was inadvertently altered. Today, medical professionals in Italy have officially declared the actor clinically brain dead. Authorities believe this was an unintended incident, and a thorough investigation is underway concerning the theater’s circumstances.
Raphael Schumacher, aged 27, was participating in the experimental theater production “Mirages” in Pisa when the incident unfolded. On Friday, medical professionals confirmed that the 27-year-old, who had been in a coma for nearly a week, is now clinically deceased.
Although the police have concluded that the incident was indeed accidental, they have initiated an investigation into the theater to examine any potential lapses in safety or negligence. The critical moment when Mr. Schumacher was removed from the noose only occurred when a medical student in the audience recognized that he was, in fact, being strangled.
On Thursday, reports from Pisa Today stated that doctors had noted a deterioration in his condition, with no positive response to treatment.
According to reports, a critical factor in the incident was the relocation of the box on which Schumacher was meant to stand while wearing the noose. Additionally, he was supposed to wear a body harness for safety. A source remarked, “The noose should have been simulated, and a harness should have been in place to prevent any falls. I cannot fathom how such an incident occurred.”
“Mirages” is an immersive performance comprising six scenes, each located in different parts of the theater, requiring the audience to move between them.
Schumacher’s tragic incident occurred in the theater’s courtyard, where a rope had been suspended from a fig tree. During this scene, he was wearing a mask, and it had been executed without issues earlier in the same evening. However, a recent medical graduate in the audience noticed his distress and realized that something was amiss.
Gabriele De Luca, the theater’s art director, expressed, “We are deeply shocked. No one, not even us, can comprehend how this occurred, and it will be the responsibility of the police to shed light on this matter.”
Nonetheless, De Luca revealed to the Italian newspaper Il Giorno that Schumacher had made a last-minute alteration to the script, opting for the noose instead of simulated g*nshots. De Luca stated, “The original monologue included a simulated g*nshot, but he ultimately chose the hanging method without informing us.”
Schumacher’s mother, hailing from Como in northern Italy, dismissed the police’s exploration of a potential su*cide theory. She asserted, “My son had recently experienced the loss of his father and the end of a relationship, but he had found peace once more. He left no su*cide note and had no motive for taking his own life.”
