Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has firmly denied any discussions with Bobrisky concerning a presidential pardon.
This comes after social activist Very Dark Man released an alleged audio recording featuring Bobrisky, who claimed that rapper Falz had contacted him, stating that Falana could assist in securing a presidential pardon to clear his criminal record.
While in prison serving his sentence, Bobrisky alleged that Falana initiated the process for the pardon but later informed him that the individual who could help demanded N10 million.
In a letter dated September 25, released by his legal representative Taiwo Olawanle, Falana condemned the allegations as a malicious and reckless attempt to damage his reputation. He emphasized that he has never spoken to Bobrisky regarding the alleged pardon or any other issue.
Falana is demanding an immediate retraction of the publication and a public apology from Very Dark Man across all his platforms within 24 hours.
“The entire publication was a vicious, wicked, and reckless ploy to impugn our client’s reputation and diminish his standing among right-thinking members of the public. We assert, without any doubt, that our client has never spoken to Bobrisky about his alleged pardon or any other matter.
We therefore demand an immediate retraction of the offensive publication and a prominently displayed apology on all platforms where it was disseminated, without any justification.
Should we not receive your formal retraction and apology within 24 hours of this notice, we will proceed with our client’s instructions to pursue appropriate legal remedies, including monetary damages, for the defamatory statements made,” the letter stated.
