High Court Issues Public Summons for Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello Over Alleged N110.4 Billion Fraud

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has issued a public summons for former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, requiring him to appear in court to face new charges related to a N110.4 billion fraud.

Bello is scheduled for arraignment on October 24, alongside two co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu. The summons was issued by Justice Maryanne Anenih on Thursday, October 3, following a request from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which had encountered difficulties serving the charges to Bello.

In her ruling, Justice Anenih ordered the EFCC to publish the summons in a widely circulated newspaper and to post copies at Bello’s last known address and in prominent areas within the court.

The charges, filed on September 24, include 16 counts of criminal breach of trust, involving Bello and his co-defendants in the alleged mismanagement of N110.4 billion.
