“Witness Recounts Horrifying Discovery of Delphi M*rder V!ctims’ Bodies”

A man involved in the search for two missing Delphi teenagers recalled discovering their bod!es. On February 13, 2017, 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German were last seen at Monon High Bridge near Delphi, Indiana. The teens, known as Abby and Libby, set out for a scenic walk, but when their parents came to pick them up around 2 PM, the girls didn’t respond to calls and were missing.

A search effort commenced, lasting into the early morning hours, but was paused at 2 AM, resuming at 7 AM on February 14. Shortly after, searchers found the girls’ bod!es. Now, over seven years later, Richard Allen, a 52-year-old local pharmacy worker, is on trial for their m*rders after being arrested in 2022 and charged with two counts of m*rder and two counts of felony m*rder.

Allen initially pleaded not guilty to the m*rder charges, which also involved attempted k!dnapping, though the charges were later amended by prosecutors. At the Carroll County Courthouse, witnesses from the search party described the chilling moment they located Abby and Libby. Patrick Brown and Jake Johns, Delphi residents, participated in the search, with Johns noticing brightly colored clothing standing out against the winter scenery and hearing Brown exclaim they found the bod!es.

Brown said he initially mistook the girls’ bodies for mannequins. Autopsy results revealed both girls had their throats cvt; Libby was found unclothed and covered in blood, while Abby wore some of Libby’s clothes.

The trial included testimony from Delphi’s former police chief, Steve Mullin, who initially believed the girls would return home. Mullin visited Hoosier Harvestore, an agricultural supply store, to review security footage that revealed a vehicle similar to Allen’s 2016 Ford Focus. On the stand, Mullin admitted he didn’t initially suspect anything sinister had occurred, maintaining hope the girls would return home, unable to fathom someone would harm them. The trial is ongoing.
