Wayne Rooney Goes Into Boxing. Set To Have His First Boxing Match. See Details

Wayne Rooney’s potential boxing debut might coincide with the highly anticipated match between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, provided everything falls into place. The Mirror was the first to reveal that Rooney is in talks with Misfits Boxing for an electrifying celebrity-style bout.

Misfits, co-founded by YouTuber-turned prizefighter KSI, specializes in hosting crossover matches featuring personalities from social media, MMA, and boxing. SunSport has learned that Misfits has engaged in discussions with Rooney, and a proposal has been under consideration by the Manchester United legend for several weeks. While no opponent has been mentioned, there’s a timeframe under consideration to have the England icon step into the ring, with plans aiming for a bout around May.

However, this coincides with the month when Fury and Usyk are scheduled to vie for the undisputed heavyweight championship in Saudi Arabia. The superstar duo had to postpone their match from February 17 to May 18 due to a severe cut Fury sustained during sparring. Despite this, Misfits and their broadcasting partner DAZN are actively seeking new pay-per-view headliners, as they have primarily relied on KSI thus far. The British internet sensation, aged 30, has headlined three PPV events, with his most recent bout against Tommy Fury, aged 24, taking place last October.
