Tyson Fury recently revealed that he suffered a personal tragedy just before his fight against Oleksandr Usyk in May for the undisputed heavyweight title.
Fury shared that his wife, Paris, who was six months pregnant with their eighth child, a son, tragically experienced a miscarriage the day before the fight.
Fury, emotional as he spoke about the event for the first time, said he was not informed of the loss before stepping into the ring for the championship bout in Saudi Arabia. He only learned the full extent of what happened after returning home to Morecambe.
Fury mentioned that Paris had to endure the heartbreaking experience of giving birth to their stillborn child while he was away, a situation that deeply affected him.
Reflecting on the situation, Fury explained that he suspected something was wrong when Paris, who typically attended his fight week, couldn’t join him due to high blood pressure.
Despite efforts to arrange a private jet for her, she declined, raising Fury’s concerns. Though Paris didn’t initially tell him, Fury said he had a gut feeling that the baby had been lost. This was confirmed when he returned home.
Fury emphasized that this personal loss wasn’t an excuse for his defeat, as he remained focused during the fight and only processed the emotions afterward.
When asked about the possibility of having more children, Fury remained uncertain, stating it was still too soon to say, given the emotional toll of the miscarriage. Fury is now set for a rematch with Usyk on December 21 in Riyadh, aiming to reclaim his heavyweight title.
