Suspected political thugs have reportedly set fire to the newly constructed council secretariat in Isiokpo, located in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident took place just hours after the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the withdrawal of police personnel from all 23 local government secretariats in the state.
A video circulating online shows a section of the administrative building consumed by flames. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack, and the full extent of the damage is still unknown.
