Three Women Detained as Police Break Up Nigerian Prost!tution Network in Cyprus

Cyprus police are dismantling a Nigerian-run prost!tution ring in Limassol, as reported by Cyprus Mail on October 23, 2024.

Three women were arrested with assistance from the anti-traff!cking unit. The case came to light last year when a woman reported a theft; however, during questioning, authorities suspected she might be a victim of s*x traff!cking. Police spokesman Christos Andreou confirmed that after further investigation, the woman was placed in a safe house.

Andreou explained that the investigation faced delays due to the victim’s limited knowledge about those involved. Coordinated police efforts led to the October 9 arrest of a 44-year-old woman suspected of involvement, followed by another arrest on October 18. A third woman, age 33, was detained on Tuesday.

Two men are still being pursued in relation to the case, and Andreou stated that with substantial evidence collected, the case is expected to go to court soon.
