The command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, informed newsmen that the young man, originally from Isielu LGA in Ebonyi State and residing in Umunnachi, Dunukofia LGA, was rescued after the command received information that he had consumed a poisonous substance in an attempt to end his life due to a debt of one million, two hundred thousand Naira owed to his livestock supplier.
“He further confessed that he deals in selling live chickens and, after taking the harmful chemical, did not feel any different,” Ikenga said.
Ikenga added that the man’s mother was contacted and is currently assisting the police with evaluations, references, and the transfer to a better facility for proper care and other necessary support for her son.
