Nigerian Woman Shares How Her Poly Lecturer Boyfriend Allegedly Abandoned Her During Twin Pregnancy and Moved Abroad

A Nigerian woman, Braimoh Blessing Evelyn, has recounted how her ex-boyfriend allegedly abandoned her during her twin pregnancy and moved to the United Kingdom.

In a series of posts on Saturday, September 28, 2024, Evelyn shared that she began dating Kola, a former lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, in 2019. By 2022, he informed her that his visa had been approved.

After discovering she was pregnant, Evelyn told Kola the news, but her joy quickly turned to despair when he allegedly urged her to terminate the pregnancy, stating he wasn’t ready to be a father. He then cut off all communication.

After giving birth to twins via caesarean section, Evelyn reached out to him again, but he remained unresponsive.

In her own words, she wrote:

“Today, I decide to tell my story of how my boyfriend, a lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic, left me with a twin pregnancy after securing his visa to the UK. I met this guy in mid-2019, and we started dating. I fell for him, thinking we would end up together. He had plans to travel abroad, where his older brother was living, and expressed dissatisfaction with his job.

In 2022, he told me his visa was approved, and I was happy for him. I asked about our future, and he reassured me he wouldn’t forget me. Shortly after, I found out I was pregnant. When I broke the news, he advised me to terminate the pregnancy, citing his travel plans and lack of readiness for fatherhood.

Despite my concerns for my health, he suggested using pills for termination. Throughout my nine-month pregnancy, he never contacted me. I faced numerous health challenges and eventually delivered via caesarean section, with the operation being particularly difficult.

After the birth, I sent him a video of our children, but he didn’t respond. I was left to deal with the hospital bills, which my mother struggled to cover, as we had no support from him. I reached out to Kola again, sharing our situation and sending proof of the bills, but he still ignored me.

Eventually, I named our children myself and took care of them alone. I even contacted his brother for help, but ended up blocked on all platforms. My mother and I managed to scrape together enough for basic needs, but life was challenging.

As my children turned one, I sent Kola an update, but he still didn’t reply. His emotional neglect took a toll on me. After discussing with family, I decided to seek out his relatives to ask for assistance.

When I finally located his brother, he expressed annoyance rather than concern. After a heated exchange, Kola insulted me and denied any responsibility for our children.

I have since blocked him and am now seeking help from fellow Nigerians. I don’t wish to rekindle any relationship with Kola; I simply want my children to be taken care of. If anyone knows his family in Ondo, please help me reach out. The economy is tough, and I need support for my kids’ basic needs and education. Thank you all.”
