NDLEA Arrests Canadian Woman at Lagos Airport for Trying To Sneak In Canad!an Loud into the Country

A 41-year-old Canadian woman, Adrienne Munju, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, for attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of ‘Canadian Loud,’ a potent strain of synthetic cannabis.

The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

“The suspect was apprehended during the inward clearance of passengers arriving on a KLM flight from Canada at Terminal 1 of the Lagos airport on Thursday, October 3, 2024,” the statement revealed.

“During a joint examination of her three bags, Adrienne, visiting Nigeria for the first time, was found with 74 parcels of the illegal substance, weighing a total of 35.20 kilograms, concealed in two of her bags.”

In her statement to authorities, Adrienne admitted she had been recruited through an online platform to smuggle the dr*gs in exchange for 10,000 Canadian dollars upon successful delivery in Lagos.

“She said she accepted the offer because she needed the money to fund her ongoing master’s degree program in Canada.”
