A man in Thailand was bitten on the testicles by a large python, leading to a bloody struggle in his bathroom as he fought off the snake using a toilet brush.
On Tuesday, August 20, Thanat Thangtewanon discovered the 12-foot snake concealed in the U-bend of his toilet.
Disturbing images show the aftermath of the attack.
Thanat recalled that just moments after sitting down, he felt a sharp pain in his testicles.
“I felt something biting me,” he said. “The pain was excruciating, so I reached into the toilet to see what was going on, and I was shocked to find that I had grabbed a snake.
“I quickly stood up and pulled it out. The pain was intense, and there was blood everywhere, but I was even more shocked to find a python in the toilet.”
In a desperate attempt to free himself, Thanat grabbed a toilet brush and struck the snake’s head repeatedly until it released its grip and died.
The father immediately went to the hospital for a tetanus shot.
Doctors assured him that stitches were unnecessary since the wound wasn’t deep enough and would heal within a couple of weeks.
“My testicles are safe now,” he said. “I’m lucky it wasn’t a venomous snake; a cobra could have killed me.
“But I haven’t used that toilet since. Every time I go, I check what’s inside and place a brush in there to make sure it’s clear.”
Incidents of pythons attacking people in toilets have happened multiple times in Thailand.
In 2016, Attaporn Boonmakchuay was attacked by a 10-foot python while using a squat toilet in Chachoengsao province. His wife rushed in after hearing his screams and helped pry the snake’s jaws from his penis. He lost a significant amount of blood but survived after treatment at Chularat Hospital.
In 2020, a housewife named Boonsong Plaikaew was bitten on her buttocks by a python while sitting on the toilet in Samut Prakan province.
