Lusikisiki Mass*cre: Police Detain Three Suspects Connected to the K!lling of 18 People in South African Community

Three men allegedly linked to the m*rder of 18 people in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape, South Africa, have been arrested. The mass shooting victims, including a 14-year-old, were buried over the weekend after being k!lled on September 28, 2024.

The suspects were captured in Port Shepstone on the KZN South Coast during an intelligence-led operation. They were apprehended early on Wednesday, October 16, by the SAPS Port Shepstone K9 Unit and Public Order Policing officers.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said a community tip-off led officers to the suspects, who were hiding in a rented house in the Mkholombe informal settlement. “A swift operation followed, resulting in the arrest of the three suspects, aged 22, 24, and 31,” he stated.

The operation remains ongoing, with police still searching for the firearm allegedly used in the m*rders.

On Tuesday, another suspect previously arrested in connection with the shooting, Siphosoxolo Myekethe, 45, withdrew his bail application. Myekethe, a convicted murderer on parole at the time of the incident, appeared in Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court facing 18 murder charges.

The police have yet to disclose the motive for the mass sho*ting.
