Ford Sues John Cena Over Sale of Rare 2017 Ford GT Supercar

John Cena is typically not involved in controversies, but when issues do arise, they attract attention. A notable instance involved his love for cars. As a WWE star and avid car collector, Cena has built an impressive collection over the years.

By 2021, despite a past dispute with Ford, Cena continued to own various luxury cars. His collection, as noted by GQ, includes models like a 2009 Chevy Corvette ZRI, a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird, and the well-known ‘Corvette InCenaRator.’

However, it was his 2017 Ford GT that led to serious trouble. Cena purchased the car upon its release at a price reportedly exceeding $450,000. Due to the GT’s limited production, Ford required buyers to keep the car for at least two years before selling it. Cena violated this rule by selling his GT just a few months after buying it.

This sale breached his agreement with Ford, which was particularly displeased because he reportedly made a profit. Ford subsequently sued him for $500,000, claiming that the unauthorized sale caused damage to the brand’s reputation and customer relations.

The following year, Cena and Ford settled the lawsuit out of court, with details undisclosed. The settlement included a charitable donation, and Cena issued an apology, saying, “I love the Ford GT and apologize to Ford, urging other owners to respect the contract. I’m glad we resolved this outside of court, allowing a benefit for charity through such an iconic car.”
