Five Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel tragically lost their lives in a road accident on the Jos-Akwanga Express Road on October 22, 2024.
The accident occurred as the personnel were traveling to Abuja for a sports event when their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck. Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that efforts to support the families of the deceased have commenced.
The statement read, “The Nigerian Air Force regrets to announce the loss of five brave personnel in a tragic road accident on October 22, 2024, near Hawan Kibo on the Jos-Akwanga Express Road. They were on their way to a sporting event in Abuja when the accident occurred. The NAF has initiated the appropriate administrative steps to support the grieving families.”
The NAF also urged the public to respect the privacy of the victims’ families and refrain from spreading unverified information.
