Bobrisky Scandal: Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Vows to Hold Indicted Officials Accountable (Video)

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has issued a strong warning to officials of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) implicated in the apartment-for-prison scandal involving the controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky. He stated that those found responsible will face serious repercussions.

This statement follows allegations circulating on social and traditional media that certain NCoS officials facilitated Bobrisky’s incarceration in a private apartment instead of a prison cell. Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse.

During a press briefing in Abuja, commemorating his one year in office, Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured the public that anyone found guilty in the ongoing investigation would not escape accountability.

“We will not spare anyone, regardless of their position,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo asserted. “Let’s be patient. The investigation is ongoing, but rest assured that no one will be shielded,” he emphasized.

He also highlighted that the high-profile individuals appointed to the oversight panel of the investigation demonstrate the government’s dedication to a thorough and comprehensive inquiry. Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence that the probe would help restore discipline and integrity within the Correctional Service.
