Anambra APC Leaders Declare Bianca Ojukwu’s Appointment as Anti-Party Activity

Anambra State leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have condemned the recent appointment of Bianca Ojukwu as a minister-designate, calling it an anti-party decision. They criticized President Bola Tinubu for appointing Bianca, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Board of Trustees, without consulting APC stakeholders in the state.

During an emergency meeting in Awka on October 24, APC leaders voiced their concerns, describing the appointment as a blow to party loyalty that discourages APC supporters. Speaking on behalf of the group, High Chief Bunty Onuigbo, South East Zonal Secretary of the APC and member of the APC Elders Forum in Anambra, said, “This decision undermines our party and empowers opposition members over APC loyalists in Anambra. Mr. President’s actions do not support loyalty to our party.”

Onuigbo further questioned the implications of the appointment, asking, “Is Mr. President encouraging a mass defection of APC members in Anambra to APGA? Is he indirectly strengthening APGA’s influence in the state?”

He expressed frustration over what he called an “unprecedented and deeply demoralizing” decision, adding that APC leadership in Abuja seems to be favoring rival parties to the detriment of their own.

Out of the seven new ministers appointed on October 23, Bianca Ojukwu’s selection has sparked the most discussion, with Nigerians actively debating the president’s choice on social media.
