Family of Late Actor John Amos Raises Concerns Over Possible Foul Play in His Death, Blames Son
The family of late actor John Amos has not ruled out the possibility of foul play in his death, directing blame toward his son.
Amos passed away from natural causes on August 21, but his daughter, Shannon Amos, revealed that much of the family learned of his death through media reports. She expressed their confusion and distress, stating they are “left with many questions” about the circumstances surrounding his passing.
Earlier this week, Amos’ son, Kelly Christopher “KC” Amos, released a statement confirming his father’s death. However, another family member, the actor’s goddaughter Amy Goudy, took to Facebook to accuse KC and two others, Eugene Brummet and Belinda Foster, of isolating Amos from the rest of the family.
In their family statement, which included signatures from Shannon, brother Leslie Franklin, and others, they expressed profound sadness and shock, noting they only discovered Amos had died 45 days after the fact. They criticized the lack of communication, stating they had not received a death certificate or information on the cause of death, although they knew he had been suffering from congestive heart failure and dementia. They expressed concern that he may have been cremated to avoid scrutiny regarding his final days.
The statement detailed how KC and the others allegedly isolated Amos from family and friends over the past year, restricting access and controlling communication. They claimed KC created a false narrative of a close father-son relationship, while in reality, Amos was suffering from dementia.
The family voiced worries that Amos may have been neglected during his last days, referencing photos from concerned neighbors that prompted an elder abuse investigation. They also drew parallels between this situation and that of KC’s late mother, indicating a pattern of behavior.
The family further questioned why they were not informed of Amos’ passing by medical professionals or authorities and expressed their belief that KC likely arranged for his father’s cremation without consulting them. They suspect these actions may have been motivated by financial gain, given KC’s history of addiction and mental health issues.
While mourning their loss, the family expressed outrage over KC’s actions, stating they refuse to dismiss the possibility of foul play, especially concerning the involvement of Brummet and Foster, whom they believe may have exploited Amos’ vulnerable state.
The statement concluded with a call for justice and clarity, signed by several family members, including Shannon Amos, Quiera Williams, Jasper and Nakia Williams, Amy Goudy, Paul Baldessare, Leslie Franklin, Willie Quinney, and Sherri Korsun-Scott.
According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, Amos was cremated on August 30, just nine days after his death, with the cause listed as congestive heart failure. KC is noted as the informant, indicating he notified authorities of his father’s passing, and he currently possesses the cremated remains. No autopsy was performed.
Shannon Amos also shared on her Instagram that someone impersonated her as his daughter in the ER the night he died, and she believes it was Belinda Foster. She urged anyone with information to contact her confidentially.
