“Student Trag!cally D!es After Falling into Bin Searching for Phone, Then Crvshed and Inc!nerated”

Police in Majorca have reported that a woman is believed to have d!ed after accidentally falling into a rubb!sh bin.

Agostina Rubini Medina, who had been missing in Majorca for over two weeks after disappearing following a night out with friends in Palma on October 2, is thought to have tried retrieving something from a bin, lost consciousness, and was subsequently crvshed when the bin was emptied into a waste truck the following morning.

In a press conference on October 17, Spanish police shared concerns that Medina was crushed inside the truck and then incinerated at a waste disposal site. Her movements were being tracked by her phone’s signal the night she vanished, and a witness saw her handbag near the bin about 15 minutes before it was emptied.

Investigators are now seeking DNA evidence at the landfill to confirm what happened.

Deputy Police Chief Fernando Reboyras explained that Medina, a petite woman with known alcohol sensitivities worsened by medication, may have been waiting for a bus around midnight when something she owned fell into the bin. She likely climbed in to retrieve it. A witness nearby at 12:12 am saw her handbag but heard no sounds from the bin. The rubbish collectors arrived 15 minutes later, emptying the bin at 12:27 am, and it’s believed she was crushed at that time. Her phone signal ceased at the landfill at 12:52 am.

Investigators stated it would be “impossible to survive inside a rubbish truck,” suggesting that Medina d!ed during the journey to the landfill. According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, police noted she was last seen around 11:57 pm on October 2, apparently waiting for a bus.
