Bidemi, a middle-aged man who was taken unconscious to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital after falling into a canal while allegedly being chased by police officers, has passed away.
An update shared by an X user this morning reported that he died in the early hours of October 18.
The incident, previously reported by LIB, was shared online by a woman who identified the victim as her friend’s husband. She posted a distressing video showing residents and Lagos State Fire Service workers pulling his unconscious body from the canal.
According to the woman, the plainclothes officers profiled the victim as a Yahoo boy because of his tattoo, causing him to flee when they pulled out their weapons. He was reportedly chased until he fell into the canal.
Additionally, eyewitnesses claimed that the officers took the victim’s money and shoes.
