A woman has shared insightful advice for those who fear losing loved ones. If you’re reading this, it’s likely a concern you’ve had before. The thought of losing someone close can be overwhelming, often leading to anxiety and potential mental health struggles.
Emily Kessler, a certified meditation teacher and breathwork facilitator known for promoting positivity on social media, offers guidance to help alleviate these fears. In a TikTok video (@emilymeditates), the life coach responded to a common question about whether she worries about loved ones passing away.
She explained: “If you’re constantly worried about the people in your life dying, this message is for you. Many ask me about this inevitability—death is a part of life. Instead of focusing on the fear, be present with your loved ones while they’re here. Spend time together, nurture your relationship, do things that bring joy, and appreciate every moment. This is what we can control. We can’t determine when or how they’ll pass, only how we engage with them in the present.”
Commenters shared their own experiences. One person noted that their therapist had told them that grieving in advance doesn’t reduce the pain of future loss. “Enjoy them while they’re alive,” they advised.
Another said, “I cry because I miss my parents, even though they’re happy and healthy just a few feet away. I’m terrified I won’t recover when they eventually pass. It’s overwhelming.”
A third added, “The thought of my mother dying sometimes consumes my entire day, leaving me paralyzed with fear. Even with a partner and family, I can’t imagine my life without her.”
