The caretakers of a young schoolgirl, orphaned after a tragic event, have shared an update on her situation. In July, Shane Roller, his partner Shannen Morgan, and their two daughters, Lillie and Rubie, tragically died in a car accident in West Yorkshire, UK, which also claimed the lives of two motorcyclists. Poppie, who was not in the car at the time, is now left without her parents and siblings.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched to support Poppie’s immediate needs, raising over £400,000. This month, an update on the fundraiser revealed that Poppie has returned to school, twelve weeks after the loss of her family.
Paul Hepple, who organized the fundraiser, shared how Poppie is coping. He explained that none of the funds have been used yet, as GoFundMe is awaiting instructions for transferring the money. The plan is to place the funds in a trust for Poppie, with her aunt Faye designated as the beneficiary to manage them.
Hepple added that Poppie is “doing as well as can be expected” and has bravely returned to school, where she is gradually adjusting despite initial nerves. She is receiving therapy to help with her grief, and both Poppie and her aunt have received vital support from the road safety charity Brake, which has assisted with legal matters and guidance.
On behalf of Poppie’s aunt, Paul expressed deep gratitude to the Barnsley Mental Health Support Team, Compass Be, and other organizations for their help. The update concluded with heartfelt thanks for the ongoing support and generosity, noting that it has secured Poppie’s future and brought hope during a difficult time.
