A newly surfaced recording of one of NASA’s most renowned astronauts, John Glenn, reveals his encounter with what appeared to be thousands of UFOs during his mission.
The audio, from the Mercury-Atlas 6 mission on February 20, 1962, captures Glenn describing the mysterious event.
While the mission, intended as a routine three-orbit flight around Earth, was expected to be uneventful, the discovery has brought new attention to this unusual encounter.
As Glenn’s spacecraft, Friendship 7, orbited Earth at a speed of 17,500 miles per hour, he reported seeing thousands of small UFOs surrounding his vessel. Despite the spacecraft’s high velocity, these objects kept pace with it, maintaining a steady distance of 7-8 feet throughout the encounter.
The mission, lasting just under five hours, became far more extraordinary due to this unexpected phenomenon.
