Dr. Dre is contesting allegations made by his former psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy, who has filed a lawsuit claiming that Dre threatened him while attempting to mediate Dre’s contentious divorce from his estranged wife, Nicole Young.
According to a legal letter obtained by TMZ, Dre’s attorney, Howard King, has accused Dr. Sophy of malpractice and breaching the doctor-patient relationship. The letter, initially sent in February 2023, alleges that Sophy maliciously attempted to “slander” Dre and harm his relationship with his son by encouraging the child to take sides against his father during the divorce proceedings.
King claims that Dr. Sophy, who was serving as a mediator in the divorce between Dre and Nicole, acted to give Nicole an unfair advantage by creating a rift between Dre and his son, resulting in significant damage to their relationship.
The conflict escalated after Dr. Sophy filed a $10 million lawsuit against Dre, alleging that he sent abusive and threatening messages in retaliation for Sophy’s involvement in the divorce process.
While Dr. Sophy presents himself as the victim, Dre’s legal team maintains their accusations of professional misconduct against him. The dispute is ongoing in court, with both sides continuing to assert their respective claims.
