A Harare man, Webster Mubati, is currently on the run after allegedly stabb!ng his girlfriend, Audrey Nyasha Rwambiwa, multiple times with a kitchen knife over the weekend. This v!olent attack took place after Audrey, a 25-year-old student at Women’s University in Zimbabwe, returned home late from a party.
She was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where she is battling for her life.
The incident happened at Tanaka Place on Josiah Chinamano Avenue, where Audrey had been living with Webster. Reportedly, she arrived home around 3 a.m. after being out with friends. Infuriated by her late return, Webster first ass*ulted her and then escalated to using a kitchen knife.
During the altercation, he st*bbed her multiple times, hitting her left bre*st, finger, arm, ribs, back, and left shoulder. In a desperate bid to escape, Audrey locked herself in the bathroom, broke a window to get out, and sought help from neighbors who quickly took her to the hospital.
Police have initiated a manhunt for Webster, who fled after the attack. Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the investigation is underway and appealed to the public for any information leading to Webster’s arrest.
“Police are investigating an attempted m*rder case involving a university student who was st*bbed by her boyfriend. The suspect escaped after the attack, and the victim is receiving treatment at the hospital,” stated Inspector Chakanza.
Audrey remains in critical condition as authorities ramp up efforts to find the suspect.
