Two Polish Priests Arrested on Suspicion of Child S*xu*l Abuse

Two Catholic Priests from Sosnowiec Diocese Detained on Child S*xual Abuse Charges

Two Catholic priests from the Sosnowiec diocese in southern Poland were detained on charges of child s*xual abuse, as revealed by prosecutors on Wednesday, October 2. This incident marks the latest in a series of scandals involving clergy in the area.

The investigation began when prosecutors uncovered evidence of s*xual abuse while looking into a homicide-suicide case connected to two other priests from the same diocese. In total, three men have been detained, including the two priests and a former priest facing fraud charges.

Jakub Seweryn, a spokesperson for the prosecution, stated, “The two men have been charged with committing s*xual offenses against minors.” While the prosecutors have identified the victims, they are withholding further details to protect those affected.

This development follows a scandal from last year, when the Vatican accepted the resignation of the diocese’s bishop after reports emerged that one of its priests had allegedly orchestrated an orgy with a s*x worker. The incident became public when the priest fainted at the gathering, prompting emergency services to be called.

The diocese has previously been involved in s*xual scandals, including an incident where a seminary director was reportedly caught engaging in s*xual activity at a gay nightclub. In response to these ongoing issues, the new bishop announced the formation of two commissions in June to investigate further.

Poland, a country with strong Catholic roots, has been grappling with numerous s*xual abuse scandals within the Church, particularly involving minors. This year, the Holy See announced the resignations of two Polish bishops due to their roles in covering up abuse cases.
