A 45-year-old man, Ayobami Oshoko, has trag!cally taken his own life due to hardship in Ogun State.
The incident occurred at his home in the Mango, Oke-Ata area of Abeokuta around 6:00 am on September 30, 2024.
SP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed to Punch on October 1 that the victim likely ingested insect!cide to end his life amid ongoing difficulties.
The deceased’s sister, Funmilayo, reported the incident to the Lafenwa Police Division after finding her brother’s lifeless body in his room, with a bottle of insecticide nearby.
“A friend of the deceased visited and, upon entering the room, discovered the victim on the floor. He raised the alarm after noticing that Ayobami had ingested a mixture of insecticide and herbal concoction,” the PPRO stated.
He left a note written in Yoruba, explaining his decision and expressing frustration with his life, stating he felt he had no other option. A discreet investigation is currently ongoing.
