“Saying That God Heals Every Time is Problematic, Given the Millions of Bedridden Christians,” Writes Solomon Buchi

Solomon Buchi Sparks Debate Over Faith and Mental Health After Sharing His Struggles

Social commentator Solomon Buchi has ignited an online debate after criticising some Christians who urged him to rely on his faith to overcome an anxiety disorder he has battled for years.

The discussion began when Buchi revealed on his X handle that he has struggled with the disorder for seven years and has chosen to continue taking his medication. He mentioned that he had prayed for healing but saw no changes in his health.

Despite having faith in God, Buchi expressed doubts about whether his faith was strong enough to prompt divine intervention for his mental health challenges.

“Even though my faith was certainly bigger than a mustard seed, I felt guilty, questioning if maybe my faith wasn’t sufficient to trigger God’s healing for me. I wondered if my healing was delayed due to my inability to cultivate a faith powerful enough to overcome this mental health struggle. But I’ve learned not to idolise my faith; it cannot triumph over God’s sovereignty. Have faith in God to fulfil your heart’s desires, but have even greater faith in God to do whatever He chooses,” he wrote.

However, some Christians responded in his comment section by questioning his faith in God.

Solomon found this response inappropriate and challenged them, asking why so many people remain ill in hospitals if God is indeed a healer.
