Police Arrest Two Individuals for Stealing Electricity Transformers and Cable Wires in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the theft of electricity transformers and cable wires in Benin City.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Nemi Edwin-Iwo, announced the arrests while presenting the suspects at the police headquarters on Friday, September 27, 2024.

According to Edwin-Iwo, the suspects, KC Okojie Prince and Aruka Uche, were captured by operatives from the X-Squad.

“On August 11, 2024, a complaint was received regarding an incident where unknown individuals unlawfully gained access to No. 8 Idugboe Estate, off Sapele Road, Benin City, and stole the following electrical equipment: one 300kva transformer, one 100kva transformer, and two drums of 2.5mm flex cable wire,” he stated.

“Through diligent investigation, operatives from X-Squad in Benin City arrested KC Okojie Prince, 50, who confessed to committing the crime with an accomplice named Ojo, whose surname is unknown and is currently at large. He also directed our operatives to the receiver of the stolen items, Aruka Uche, 40, and all the equipment was recovered at No. 5 Eben Street, off Akpakpava, Benin City.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.”
