Over One Hundred Stranded Nigerians Return from Libya (Photos)

The Lagos territorial office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has announced the repatriation of 180 Nigerians from Libya.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, October 3, the agency reported that the group consists of 67 females, 55 males, 42 children, and 16 infants.

NEMA stated that the returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, October 2.

The agency noted, “In continuation of the voluntary evacuation of Nigerian nationals from Libya, facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the NEMA Lagos Territorial Office and other stakeholders received a batch of 180 returnees on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.”

The returnees arrived on a charter flight operated by Al-Buraq airline, registration number 5A-DMG. The group included 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 infants.

Upon arrival, the returnees underwent biometric profiling conducted by the Nigerian Immigration Service, while various government agencies provided additional humanitarian support to ensure they were well received and had access to essential items for their immediate needs.
