Nigerian rapper Reminisce recently shared his thoughts on navigating the music industry, emphasizing the importance of setting boundaries as an artist.
The indigenous rapper explained that while success attracts people, not all of them have genuine intentions.
“Fame is like a drug that clouds judgment. Early on, I realized that nobody is truly my friend,” he said during an interview with Naija FM. “This might explain why some people don’t like me. If I’ve had conflicts with anyone, it’s likely because I made a decision and stuck to it.”
He continued, “In the end, I’m the one who faces the consequences. People can turn against you if they don’t benefit, especially when it comes to money.”
Reminisce also shared that having a child before achieving fame helped him recognize the reality of relationships in the industry. “You can be generous and supportive, but the biggest mistake you can make is believing everyone is your friend.”
“We’re all chasing the same thing, so it’s unrealistic to think everyone’s on your side. When you’re in the spotlight, people gravitate toward you, but it’s up to you to choose what you want. Not everyone around you wants to see you succeed.”
