Nigerian Woman Claims DNA Testing Isn’t Part of Culture; Declares Children Born to Marriage Belongs to the Husband

Ogochukwu Juliet Victory, a Nigerian woman, stated that DNA testing is not part of her cultural practices, emphasizing that any child born to a married woman is regarded as belonging to her husband.

She shared her perspective in response to a Facebook post by Chioma Onwuesi, who called for mandatory DNA testing in hospitals after a friend discovered he was not the biological father of his three children.

Similarly, another woman, Uchenna Nneka Nwigwe, noted that in her village, all children born to a woman are considered to belong to the man who paid her bride price, arguing that “DNA testing is unnecessary.”
