Stella, a Nigerian lawyer, has encouraged individuals to consider legal action against former partners who broke a promise to marry. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, she stated, “You have the right to sue your ex for breach of promise to marry and should not let emotions cloud your judgment.”
She added, however, that to prove such a claim, one must demonstrate that a promise was made, there was reasonable reliance on it, and that this reliance resulted in some form of loss or detriment.
