A mentally unstable woman gave birth to a baby boy under a bridge at Ganaja junction in Lokoja, Kogi State’s capital. Social activist Chukwuemeka Mohammed reported that the birth took place on the night of Monday, October 21. Unfortunately, by the time he and his team arrived at the scene, the baby had already passed away.
He called on the state Ministry of Environment to handle the removal of the infant’s body. “We were informed that a mentally challenged woman gave birth to a baby boy under the Ganaja junction bridge in Lokoja. My team and I rushed there, but sadly, the baby had died before we arrived,” he said.
“I am appealing to the Ministry of Environment to come and bury the baby. The mother is still under the bridge and urgently needs clothes, food, and medical attention. We plan to visit her tomorrow morning. If anyone can help with these supplies, please bring them to her or contact us for assistance. God bless you.”
