The Great Pyramid of Giza, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, continues to captivate visitors with its grandeur—and one adventurer’s discovery at its summit may come as a surprise. If you’re a history enthusiast, you’ll recognize this Egyptian pyramid, built as the tomb for Pharaoh Khufu around 2600 BC. Originally standing at 146.6 meters, it has eroded over the years to its current height of 138.5 meters.
Despite this reduction, it remains an impressive sight, drawing over 14 million tourists annually to the UNESCO World Heritage site, according to The Collector.
Among the visitors was Marshall Mosher, an adventure athlete and entrepreneur. However, simply viewing the Great Pyramid from the ground wasn’t enough for him. The social media influencer took his experience to new heights by paragliding over the pyramid in a paramotor, sharing stunning footage of his flight on Instagram.
He likely didn’t expect to encounter what he did at the top. “Paragliding over the Great Pyramids of Giza today was a surreal reminder that no dream is too big,” he told his 280,000 followers.
Mosher reflected on the determination and strength that went into constructing these ancient monuments, paralleling it with the pursuit of personal dreams. “We live in an era where the extraordinary is within reach, so why not chase the life of our dreams?” he added, calling the experience ‘awe-inspiring.’
In a subsequent video, he revealed that he spotted a four-legged creature that had somehow ascended the pyramid. “A dog climbed all the way up the Great Pyramid of Giza!” he wrote, a clip that has since garnered over 22.8 million views.
Viewers were astonished by the footage, leaving various comments. One person joked, “None of his friends are gonna believe him,” while another suggested, “Not a dog. That is the Egyptian God Anubis.”
Another commenter noted the ancient presence of dogs, and a concerned viewer questioned how the dog managed the climb and its need for water.
Seeing a dog at the top of the Great Pyramid is not as unusual as it may seem. Mosher later acknowledged that the dog might resemble Anubis—the ancient Egyptian funerary deity—and mentioned that many dogs roam the area, often scaling the pyramid. He added in another video that this particular dog frequently returns to the ground.
While it may not involve the actual Anubis, capturing such a moment on film is undoubtedly a unique experience.
