The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a native doctor, Enuwa Odugu, 48, and a man named Uwakwe Eze, 67, in connection with the alleged conspiracy and murder of Eze’s 26-year-old son, Chikwado Celestine Eze.
Reports indicate that Chikwado, who had recently obtained a visa to travel abroad, was taken to the native doctor’s shrine by his father.
According to a statement from Command spokesperson DSP Daniel Ndukwe, preliminary investigations suggest that Uwakwe Eze brought his son to the native doctor for a ritual meant to fortify him with charms. During the ritual, Chikwado was placed in a coffin, where he tragically lost his life. He was then taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed his death, and his body was sent to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Ndukwe noted that the native doctor has confessed to the crime and admitted performing similar rituals in the past, blaming Chikwado’s death on his failure to follow specific ritual instructions.
The case remains under investigation, and the suspects will face charges in court once inquiries are completed.
