Davido’s Father, Deji Adeleke, Claims to Produce 15% of Nigeria’s Electricity

Adedeji Adeleke, father of popular Nigerian musician Davido, has revealed that his company, Pacific Energy, is responsible for generating about 15% of Nigeria’s electricity. He made this statement during the Seventh-Day Adventist Church’s General Conference Annual Council 2024 on October 15.

Adeleke spoke about his role in Nigeria’s power sector, highlighting that his thermal power plant is expected to be fully operational by January 2025. He also mentioned that Chinese engineering firms are involved in constructing the plant, which will be the largest thermal power facility in Nigeria, with a capacity of 1,250 megawatts upon completion.

In a video shared by Davido on his X account, Adeleke stated, “I’m in the electricity business, I own power plants. I generate about 15 percent of Nigeria’s electricity. I have Chinese engineering companies working for me. I am building the largest thermal power plant in Nigeria, set to launch in January 2025. It’s a 1250MW power plant.”

Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke, Deji Adeleke’s brother, praised him on his X account, tweeting, “Proud of my big bro always. My Chairman. Our parents taught us to turn to God in everything we do. I hope this testament encourages others not to give up when obstacles arise. This is why I dance to praise my God.”
