If you were out in the wild near a snake, you’d want to be able to spot it. But if the snake were camouflaged as well as the ones shown by a Reddit user, most of us would likely miss it entirely.
You might see a headline like this and think, “How hard could it really be?” But prepare to be challenged, because these images might leave you stumped—showing that social media has some clever tricks up its sleeve after all.
Last week, a Reddit user named @Prize-Technology-811 posted in the r/FindTheSniper thread, sharing two photos from a hike near Wilmington, Delaware. The images supposedly contain two snakes of the same species, though they’re nearly impossible to spot.
The caption reads: “Two of the same species on the same hike in different locations. Somewhere near Wilmington, Delaware.” At first glance, you probably just see trees, leaves, grass, and branches—no snakes in sight.
Look closely, and maybe your instincts will kick in, though calling this “medium” difficulty, as the post does, feels optimistic—I still can’t find them.
Thankfully, a few eagle-eyed users with sharper focus chimed in to share their insights on these hard-to-find reptiles.
So far, four Reddit users have successfully spotted the hidden snakes in the images and earned ‘snipes,’ though many others haven’t been as lucky.
One frustrated user commented, “There goes half an hour of my life,” while another noted, “Every stick in the upper half of this photo looks like a snake to me…” A third expressed concern: “It worries me that I’ve spent 20 years in the army, countless nights in the field, and never found a snake.” A fourth added, “I must be blind because I don’t see it even after reading the spoilers. HELP.”
For those struggling, the original poster shared some hints: “In the first photo, focus on the right side, about halfway down. In the second, look for the snake’s head poking out from under the upper-left cluster of brown mushrooms.”
Another user gave more detail: “It’s thin, tiny, and black with two long white stripes. Start at the center, go right about halfway, and slightly down. The head’s under the green plant between the two orange leaves. Hope that helps!”
One person joked, “Lord never put me in this situation cause I would be dead.” Thankfully, the original poster reassured, “Don’t worry, this one won’t k!ll you.”
