In Rivers State, a man named Ejike allegedly poured hot water on his 31-year-old neighbor, Blessing, leaving her in serious condition. The incident took place on October 23, 2024, on Azikiwe Street, Mile 2, Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The conflict reportedly began when Blessing, a hairstylist, was carrying hot water from an electric kettle to use for a customer’s hair. Ejike’s young son accidentally bumped into her, causing some water to spill and lightly splash his leg.
According to witnesses, while Blessing was comforting the child, Ejike came out to ask about the situation. As neighbors explained, he allegedly took the kettle and poured its contents over Blessing’s chest, with some hot water splashing onto her face.
Ejike fled the scene after the att*ck, while Blessing was taken to the Azikiwe Police Division to obtain a medical form before being moved to a hospital for treatment. Her family is now calling for justice.
“We want the police to arrest this man so he understands the harm he has caused my sister,” said her brother, Goodluck Nwankwo, also appealing to the government for support due to the heavy medical expenses.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident and said the suspect has been arrested. “Yes, I’m aware, and he has been taken into custody. The police provided the woman with a medical form, and she is currently receiving treatment,” she stated.
