Woman Appeals to Kaduna Court to Block Ex-Husband from Visiting Her Home

On Tuesday, Amina Rabiu, a mother of three, requested a Shari’a court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, to instruct her ex-husband, Tahir Usman, to stop coming to her home. She told the court that the defendant divorced her three months ago following a disagreement, marking their second separation, and sought confirmation of the two divorce pronouncements from the court.

“He frequently comes to my house trying to sl*ep with me after the divorce. I want this honorable court to intervene and warn him to stay away from me,” she said.

She also requested custody of their children and asked the court to ensure her ex-husband fulfills his responsibilities as their father.

The defendant, represented by lawyer Muhammad Garba, claimed that his client had only issued one divorce declaration, and that it was made a long time ago. He added that after the divorce, the complainant remarried, later separating from her second husband before returning to his client.

Judge Anas Khalifa asked Amina if she had witnesses to support her claims, which she confirmed. The judge then adjourned the case until October 29 for the presentation of witnesses.
