“Journalist Facing Deportation Pleads: ‘I Don’t Want to Be Sent Back to Nigeria’ After Fleeing Alleged Targeting by Authorities”

A Nigerian journalist has revealed that he is facing deportation from the United Kingdom unless he leaves within nine days.

Ibezim Nnamdi Emmanuel, the publisher of Reportera News, stated that he has been ordered to leave the UK by October 31 and return to Nigeria.

He claims that both he and his family “were treated very unjustly” and that he is “being targeted” in Nigeria due to an article he published on his website in August 2023.

After publishing the article, he fled to the UK.

He also reports being defrauded by a Nigerian who took his money without providing the necessary documents for him to remain in the UK.

Now at risk of deportation, he fears his life “will be in danger” if he returns to Nigeria.

“If you don’t hear from me by the end of November, I may have been deported to Nigeria and likely arrested by Nigerian authorities,” he wrote on X.

He added: “Consider this an SOS in advance.”
