A man has been arrested for the m*rder of his 31-year-old girlfriend in Mpumalanga, South Africa, after allegedly burying her body in a shallow grave.
The incident involves Oupa Kgaladi, who is accused of k!lling Angelina Mmako at their home in Vezubuhle, Kwamhlanga when she attempted to end their relationship due to financial strain.
According to Angelina’s family, she wanted to break up because she was tired of financially supporting Kgaladi. This prompted the suspect to poison her and bury her under the bed in their house.
Mpumalanga’s Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday, October 18, 2024, praising the Kwamhlanga detectives for their dedicated efforts in investigating the m*rder.
Reports indicate that Angelina had been missing for a week, and her family, unable to find any leads, reported her disappearance to the police. The suspect was subsequently arrested on October 17, 2024, at a hiding spot in Mamelodi, near Pretoria.
The 40-year-old suspect is expected to appear in Kwamhlanga Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 21, 2024.
