Spanish football powerhouse Real Madrid reportedly convened a crisis meeting on the night of Monday, October 14, following accusations of r@pe and s3xual harassment against their prominent player, Kylian Mbappe.
The French footballer, who refutes the allegations, was on a trip to Sweden with friends from Wednesday through Friday of the previous week, staying at the Bank Hotel in the center of the city.
On Monday, Mbappe criticized a report from Aftonbladet, labeling it ‘fake news,’ regarding an alleged r@pe incident that occurred at the hotel on Thursday evening.
Nonetheless, the Swedish newspaper Expressen later reported that Mbappe is the subject of a police investigation following accusations against the Real Madrid athlete.
According to French journalist Romain Molina, Real Madrid addressed the allegations in a crisis meeting on Monday night.
The team is set to play again on Saturday against Celta Vigo in La Liga, but it is unclear if Mbappe will participate, as Real Madrid has yet to make a public statement on the issue.
Meanwhile, a statement from Mbappe’s camp to AFP said: ‘Today, a new defamatory rumour has spread online from the Swedish media Aftonbladet. These accusations are entirely false and irresponsible, and their continued dissemination is unacceptable. To halt this methodical character assassination of Kylian Mbappe, we will take all legal actions necessary to restore the truth and target any person or media involved in the ongoing emotional abuse and defamatory treatment Kylian Mbappe endures repeatedly.’
Investigators and forensic experts were seen at the alleged crime scene on Monday, as reported by Aftonbladet. The newspaper noted that the alarm about the alleged r@pe was raised when the woman sought medical assistance at a local hospital.
