Apple Fans Report Sudden Drop in iPhone Battery Life, Company Claims Issue Will Resolve in Days
Apple users are voicing their frustrations over a noticeable decrease in battery life on their iPhones, but the company insists the problem will only persist for a few days. CEO Tim Cook recently introduced the new iPhone 16 lineup, which features AI capabilities branded as “Apple Intelligence.” These devices are designed to leverage generative AI to assist users with everyday tasks.
However, customers who purchase an iPhone today will not have access to these AI features until a software update later this year.

As excitement builds around the new devices, many iPhone users are reporting unexpected declines in battery life. Following an update to iOS 18, one user tweeted, “My father’s iPhone 13 dropped suddenly from 100% to 97% battery health within an hour of updating to #iOS18.”
“Why does Apple keep releasing updates that slow down and degrade older phones? #iphone13 #apple,” one user lamented.
“My battery has been draining since the iOS 18 update,” another added.
“Is anyone else with an iPhone 14 having trouble charging to 100 percent after updating to iOS 18?” a third user inquired.

Fortunately, Apple has stated that battery life should return to normal within a few days.
When an iPhone receives the latest iOS update, it undertakes “certain tasks” in the background, including re-indexing data from contacts and applications.
In essence, your device is actively working to ensure your private data remains secure with the new update.
Apple advises on their official support page, “If you notice a decrease in battery life after updating your iPhone, wait a few days and check again. While you can use your iPhone immediately after an update, some tasks related to the update continue running in the background, which may affect battery life and thermal performance.”
