Lagos Police Arrest 30-Year-Old Man for Allegedly St*bbing Newlywed Wife to Death

The Lagos State police have apprehended a 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, for allegedly st*bbing his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, in the Ikorodu area on Friday, October 4.

According to a statement from police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Motunrayo allegedly st*bbed his 25-year-old wife multiple times during an argument, locked her in their room, and then set it on fire. After committing the act, he reportedly inflicted wounds on himself.

The statement details that a distress call was received at the Ikorodu Division regarding a domestic dispute involving the couple. Upon arrival, police found Olajumoke’s lifeless body with multiple st*b wounds, and the fire was extinguished.

Hundeyin noted that Motunrayo was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment before being discharged and placed in police custody. Preliminary investigations indicated that he st*bbed his wife during the altercation and sustained minor injuries.

The victim’s body has been taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, and further investigations are ongoing.
