Gambian Businessman Killed in Fatal Car Accident Near Ziguinchor; Senegalese Companions Survive
A Gambian businessman tragically died in a car accident near Ziguinchor in Senegal’s Casamance region. His Senegalese companion and her friend, who were traveling with him, survived the crash.
According to reports from Senegalese media, the man had picked up the two women for a weekend trip to The Gambia when the accident occurred on Saturday, September 29, 2024.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, providing treatment to the two women, who sustained minor injuries, before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the businessman suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe that speeding may have played a role in the accident. The identity of the deceased has not been released, but he was described as a businessman who frequently traveled between Guinea-Bissau, Casamance, and The Gambia.
