Sony has announced on its website that 42 models from its 2014 BRAVIA lineup will no longer support the Netflix app due to ‘technical limitations’. After July 24, the Netflix app will be removed from the Apps menu on these TVs.

The complete list of the 42 TVs affected is available, but there’s no urgency to replace your TV immediately. You can continue enjoying Netflix on older models by using streaming dongles such as the Amazon Fire Stick or Roku Streaming Stick. These devices plug into your TV’s HDMI port and enable streaming via WiFi from multiple apps, including Netflix.

Furthermore, priced at around £30, they offer a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to buying a new TV.
