A 14-year-old girl may have sustained life-changing injuries following a suspected acid attack that also affected two other individuals at a school in west London, UK.
Emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police, paramedics, and the London Fire Brigade, were called to Alfred Road at 4:42 PM on Monday, September 30, after school staff alerted them while on patrol.
The 14-year-old girl is currently hospitalized with potentially life-altering injuries, while a 16-year-old boy is receiving treatment for less severe injuries that are not considered life-changing. A 27-year-old woman involved in the incident has since been discharged.
“No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing,” stated the Metropolitan Police. “Tests are being conducted on the substance, which officers believe to be acidic. Urgent inquiries are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible, and several crime scenes have been established.”
In response to the incident, Westminster Academy announced, “The school is closed today due to unforeseen circumstances. Students will resume lessons through online learning.”
