Singapore Passport Retains Its Status as the World’s Most Powerful (June 2024)

Singapore’s passport ranks as the most advantageous globally, with a score of 91.15, enabling easy travel for its 5.6 million citizens.

According to the VisaGuide Passport Index, holders of the Singaporean passport can travel visa-free to 168 countries, the highest number for any passport as noted by VisaGuide.World.

Specifically, 159 countries allow visa-free entry for Singaporeans, while nine require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Additionally, countries like Russia, India, Nigeria, and nine others offer eVisas to Singaporean citizens.

For four consecutive months, from March to June, Singapore’s passport has been recognized as the world’s strongest.

Italy holds the second position, with its passport permitting visa-free access to 107 countries, including 44 nations within the Schengen Area where Italians can enter without a passport.

The Italian passport has a score of 90.49, reflecting significant travel freedom, although Italians need visas for 17 countries. In comparison, Singaporeans need visas for 19 countries.

In Asia, Japan’s passport is the second most powerful and ranks 13th globally.

Japanese passports, with a score of 89.55, allow visa-free entry to 143 destinations and offer Visa-on-Arrival for 36 countries, including Egypt, India, and Indonesia.

Japanese citizens require eVisas for 18 countries, such as Russia, Burkina Faso, and Papua New Guinea, and visas for 19 countries in total.

Countries like Afghanistan, Algeria, Cuba, and Syria require visas for Japanese nationals.

Europe has 18 of the top 20 strongest passports, led by Italy, Spain, and France, whose citizens need visas for only 17 countries.

EU passport scores range from 88.61 to 90.49, indicating slight variations. Poland’s passport, with the lowest score at 88.61, allows visa-free travel to 100 countries, while Germany’s slightly higher-scoring passport at 88.63 permits visa-free entry to 91 countries.
